  1. A Very Stable XD, Nice & Grippy too! Review by kanidrive

This is the most "grippy" Champion disc I've ever owned. I like the "almost sticky" feel of this disc in my sweaty palms compared to many other Champion discs that are extremely slippery with any moisture at all.

I've been throwing a nearly 20 year old XD on and off for a long time. It became my go-to putter back in the day for its ability to fly at just about every angle and its grippy feel. I've tried to get away from it because I feel like there are better options for the shots I tend to reach for it on. I've been passively scouring Disc Golf shops for a Champion XD during my brief returns from Disc Golf hiatus since Champion discs have been more widely available. I'm pretty bummed that the decision has been made to discontinue the XD completely and I was reluctant to adopt the XD+ as I've had mixed results from "altered disc designs" after falling in love with the originals (Does anyone remember DGA Factor 1 Whippets?).

I decided to snag one of these before they were gone, even though its the "plus mold". While I ordered a 173-175g, I received a 170g and was not thrilled about it. But after not getting a response back via email about receiving the wrong weight, I reluctantly decided to mark my name on this "DX circle stamped" 170 Champion XD+ after my email explaining the most expensive disc I bought with my order wasn't correct being COMPLETELY ignored (Hence the 1 star for service).

I have to admit I'm extremely impressed with how well it handles <250 feet worth of torque in a straight-to-hyzer line. My OLD and ULTRA BEAT 174g DX XD flips pretty hard at about 175-200 feet without rolling on its right edge, where I actually have to aim HIGH and to the left of the target with 7:30~8:15 RHBH Hyzer to land to the right of the target about 250 feet away. With THIS disc in a 170g weight, it doesn't flip over to the right at ALL with any less than 8:30 RHBH Hyzer or the inverse with a RHFH "sniper approach" or go-for shot. It doesn't seem to "unfold" when angled with a lot of anhyzer in a finesse/touch shot that curves right and flattens out a bit (or the inverse with a Forehand) like my old, beater XD does, but its pretty close. close enough for me to expect it to do so once it breaks in completely.

Overall, I feel like this disc was worth it, even though the weight was slightly off from what I wanted. That said, I expect that the Stud & Colt will eventually replace my old school Roc & XD combo. I've hit a few crazy flick putts with the Colt and I've been absolutely BOMBING the Stud off the tee. IF anyone else is wondering what to replace the XD with: The XD+ seems to be closer to the Stud & and the "non-plus" XD seems closer to a Colt. (Posted on 8/2/2017)

First I have to say, shipping was VERY fast on these two Champion XD Putt Approach discs. I noticed they had more of a dome it seemed than the DX version. That aside, I am loving the disc already It has such a nice line for approach shots. It has versatility, predictability and reliability all wrapped into this gem. Putts with it are very easy and consistent as well. If you have never tried one...I highly recommend you give it a shot. Game On ! Happy Customer once again. Thanks Innova Disc Golf Pro Shop ! The XD has been a must in my bag for a long time, and now there's a champion +mold to replace all the old DX plastic models. Super straight, reliable as a Driving putter or finesse upshot lines. Recommend max weight for strong players. (Posted on 9/6/2013)

i love champ xd's they are by far the best driving putter for me
But omg the XD+ is what i've been looking for since the star XD went oop stable and effortless
Recently played a putt and approach only round with some local club members and the XD+ and pig were the discs of the day if only innova could make some champ pigs to go with my champ XD i would be all set. (Posted on 5/7/2013)

  5. Straight and true approach putter! Review by Luv2disc

Great controlled approach shot, holds whatever line you put it on! Similar to a CFR Glo XD, they are slightly domed like a panther with less glide and superior control! Wish this would just go into production so I could get some factory seconds for $11/each rather than paying the same price as a Star disc. (Posted on 12/21/2012)

  8. More Stable than CFR R-Pro XD Review by Jeremy

This Champion XD+ takes a better beating than my R-Pro. It's flight is much more stable and will fly straight for a good distance with a nice fade at the tail end. It most definitely does not make the nice turns like my R-Pro does. Would definitely recommend for anyone needing a very stable approach disc. (Posted on 8/31/2012)

  10. Stable for an XD Review by atay87
    Quality

    Value

It is definitely more stable than I expected and more stable than my DX XD when it was new. When you throw it flat, it will stay straight for a while with a good fade at the end. It complements my DX very well, since my DX has beaten in some. It doesn't glide as well as a DX, but I think that is due to its extra stability.

The difference in the plus rim was negligible, and if anything helped me grip it better. And it is fairly domey, a little more so than my DX. I love the DX stamp on it and wish they would do that for more discs.

  11. DX vs Champion Review by zentoy

The advantage of having this Champion plastic XD+ is that wears in slowly, and flies consistently. However, this is also the disadvantage. I have had a DX plastic XD+ in my bag and it has become an immediate long, turnover disc. I don't see my Champion becoming a long turnover disc anytime soon. (Posted on 5/13/2012)
